What we do

“It is harder to crack prejudice than an atom.”

A. Einstein

With its research activity the Study Centre operates in order to allow an evolution and a continuous improvement of the contents that are at the base of Strategic Communication.

People usually have the goal of communicating effectively. However, this way of communicating only takes into account one’s own interests and does not favor the generation of relationships that could bring value in the long term, as it is self-centered and victim of cognitive biases.

The passage from Effective Communication to Strategic Communication allows us to go beyond cognitive biases and heuristics, that usually spoil the relationships between speakers, and favors the generation of stable relationships that generate value with the passing of time, thanks to the re-evaluation of the interests of all involved parties and the exploration of the Context. That’s why it’s also called anti-biases communication.

It’s fundamental then a constant neuroscientific analysis of cognitive processes and biases that are involved in communication, and more generally in relationships, that can be shared and applied in different professional areas.

The fields in which the Study Centre operates are business, healthcare and education.

Knowing how to build, maintain and cultivate relationships that last in time is a fundamental skill in professional success: from the induction phase to the managerial one, going through every level of the organization.

Therefore, having good communication skills is a determining factor for every individual.

However there happen several types of dynamics, each of them requiring a precise communication strategy able to consider every aspect of the context in order to be managed in the best way.

The Study Centre guarantees the constant analysis of said dynamics, classifiable under three representative systemics – sale, pure negotiation and change management, in order to constantly update the methodology used in the Strategic Communication Academy in training and company consultings.

In healthcare, communication from medical doctors and healthcare structures aims at the recovery of the patient. If this goal is considered essential, however it is not the only one. Strategic Communication teaches us that it is not enough to consider only the doctor’s interests. In order to build a relationship that could last in the long term, and therefore allows healthcare workers to perform at their best and obtain total compliance from the patient, we need to discover his interests too.

Patients often show or denounce closure, fear, lack of trust or discomfort in the relationship with the healthcare system. This is because of a communication that takes into account only the healthcare workers’ interests, without discovering the interests of the patients, or taking for granted that their interest is the same. The passage to Strategic Communication is required and the aim of the Study Centre, in this specific field, is to improve communication and the relationships that tie all healthcare workers to both the patient and every counterpart they interact with.

The relationship between teacher and student is a bond that can be defined, at least for some levels of formation, as a long-term one, as it is characterized by a lot of time shared with each other. We can also easily see that the subjects involved depend strongly on each other, nonetheless it’s often a problematic relationship. Especially in those stages of life in which the student has educational needs that are still basic but essential to build their own knowledge and their own value measurement. Just as the teacher has the responsibility of giving an example of adult life, and not the only one of spreading knowledge.

Therefore, it’s important to value the relationship and the communication between subjects starting from the first levels of education, knowing that their future depends on their professional accomplishments. Since communication is at the base of the relationship, the Study Centre has the goal of analyzing and then operating neuroscientific knowledge at the base of the relationship, in order to favor a dialogue that brings both parties to the realization of both their interests, taking into account the interdependency and the potential result that only together they can reach.
